Tuning service questions
We offer ECU remapping, Stage 1 and Stage 2 remaps, custom tuning, economy remaps, exhaust tuning and gearbox tuning. We tune a wide range of petrol and diesel cars.
Yes, when the car is healthy and the map is written correctly. At AMR Tuning we run a full health check first and only do ECU remapping within safe limits for your engine and gearbox.
A normal Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap will not make your car fail its MOT if emissions parts are still in place. We follow UK rules and do not remove DPF’s etc for road use.
Yes, you should always tell your insurer about any car remap or tuning work. Most UK insurance companies see ECU remapping as a change to the car so it must be declared to keep your cover valid.
A remap can affect a main dealer or extended warranty. If your car is still under warranty we will explain the risks before you choose any ECU remapping.
Tuning can take an hour to a few hours depending on the level of tuning, which includes health checks, software calibration and testing.
Stage 1 remaps are designed for standard cars with no major hardware modifications. The tuning is purely software-based and works within the safe limits of the factory components, improving performance, torque, and efficiency without requiring any physical upgrades.
Stage 2 remaps are intended for cars that have been fitted with supporting hardware upgrades, such as a performance exhaust, intake, or fuelling components. The software is custom-calibrated to take advantage of these modifications, allowing the engine to produce more power and performance than would be possible on standard parts alone.
Yes, an economy remap is designed to improve fuel efficiency by optimising the engine for smoother, more efficient driving. When driven sensibly, many drivers see improved MPG, with no loss of everyday performance.
Yes, ECU tuning can reduce turbo lag. By optimising boost control, throttle response, and torque delivery, a remap allows the turbo to respond more quickly and smoothly. This results in improved acceleration and better drivability, particularly at lower engine speeds.
Yes, we offer a remote tuning service worldwide. If you have your own tuning shop or your own tuning tools, we can work with you remotely to custom tune a car.

Needed better fuel on the van for jobs. Can see the difference on the fuel gauge already and it pulls better up hills with all the tools in.
Did the remote tune with AMR, he helped me on WhatsApp step by step, was easier than I thought. Took it in for a service after, he checked the map, plugs and fluids, car feels sharp and safe now.
Car sounds perfect now, nice and calm in town but loud when I put my foot down. They set up the exhaust and map how I asked, no silly noise, just strong power and a few pop
Mate the car feels mad now pulls so clean in every gear. The lads sorted the map and box in one go, in and out in a couple of hours, no stress at all.
AMR came out after work, did the map on my drive so I did not have to leave the kids. Car feels lighter, more punchy and I am using less diesel on my Derby run, DPF and EGR lights gone as well.
